About us
Footscray honours its Anzacs.
On this website are images of hand-written applications – or at least those that survived fire and neglect to now reside in the Footscray Historical Society’s vault – for memorial scrolls issued to local residents who enlisted in the Great War.
In order to share these interesting, informative and sometimes poignant documents, volunteers have digitised them and linked them, where possible, to names on Footscray Town Hall’s Roll of Honour. Every attempt has been made to accurately record the details of soldiers and their families. If you find anomalies or mistakes, or you wish to add your family story to this site, please let us know.
This is an Australian Government Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program initiative, funded by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs through the office of the Federal Member for Gellibrand, Tim Watts.
